Soldier Program for Truck School Training

Volunteer Training Center is proud to participate in the Army Vocational/Technical (AVOTEC) Soldier pilot program. The program is designed to provide expanded educational opportunities by providing training in high-demand career fields. Funding for the pilot program began February 1, 2009, and will end on September 30, 2009. Soldiers must be enrolled, and all costs paid by the end of the program period. The program cap is $4,500. If you have already used TA this fiscal year, that amount will be subtracted from the program cap.

This truck driving course provides the student with personalized trucking instruction through a curriculum designed to give the student the knowledge and skills necessary to obtain a commercial driver's licanse (CDL). The program is taught at the Volunteer Training campus in Murfreesboro, Hixson, and DandridgeTennessee.

VTC Graduation Requirements:

Volunteer Student must satisfactorily complete 150 hours with a minimum passing grade of 80%. The approximate time to complete the course is one hundred fifty (150) hours of resident training consisting of classroom concourse, and behind the wheel (on the road) instruction. Full time cdl training consists of 3 weeks of resident (5days per week,10 hours per day). To obtain a CDL license or permit, you must successfully pass a DOT physical. Volunteer Training is certified by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission. Total Cost $4500.
